Ward Zoning and Planning Committee Meeting: 9/30/03The Piser Funeral Home has been sold but the Alderman's office doesn't know who bought it. They are going to find out since it could affect future developments on that property. Ald. Smith wants to submit a proposal for a moratorium of demotion permits. After much discussion, it will be voted upon at the October meeting. There is a proposal for the termination of sign permits at the Bryn Mawr/Broadway intersection for a "billboard-free" zone. There was a unanimous vote in favor of the proposal to lift the liquor license moratorium on Sheridan Road from Catalpa to Hollywood to allow the operation of a fine wine store (packaged goods) in the Edgewater Beach Apts. building at 5555 N. Sheridan. Business owner would be Gayle Lang. There was a unanimous vote in favor of the proposal for 5427-37 N. Broadway for a mixed use complex involving four buildings. The main building would have retail/commercial space on the first floor with 12 condo units above. The one story building to the north would be retail/commercial with a restaurant as the ideal tenant. The two-story building north of that would be retail/commercial on the first level with two rental apartments above. Developer is Dino Armiros. Architect is Scott Garland. The proposal was approved for 6117 N. Winthrop to construct an 8 unit condo building on a 50 X 150 lot in an R5 zoning area. Developer is Jim Byrne. He needs alley access only. |
