Ward Zoning and Planning Committee Meeting: 7/30/03Alderman's Update: Nookies Restaurant is planning on opening up on Bryn Mawr (close to the Red Line 'L' stop); Goldblatt's residential units are completely sold; Borders opening in Feb./March 2004; large parking facility to go in at N. Clark St./Ridge; Alderwoman Smith is creating a task force to appeal the new tax assessments; Alderwoman Smith has been approached by National Geographic to highlight Chicago neighborhoods which will emphasize her ward; Alderwoman Smith is committed to getting a Green Farmer's Market in the 48th ward, if anyone is interested in helping with this committee, please contact Shelly. Bob Magquier of the Chicago Park District presented preliminary redevelopment plans for the Broadway Armory which includes focus groups/needs assessment from the community, CTA and IDOT feedback as well. Michael Roper, owner of Hopleaf Bar at 5148 N. Clark St., explained the expansion of the establishment which includes food and an expanded upstairs space for private parties. 6236-40 N. Winthrop: updates include a presentation of Loyola University to build a new dormitory on this site. A motion to move in favor of this development was approved. 5416 N. Winthrop: Developer, Fred Barder, presented his plans for a 7-unit condominium development that needs alley access. A motion to move against granting alley access was approved. |
