MPAC Bylaws

Join a group of people interested in working with the staff of the Chicago Park District on behalf of Margate Park. Margate Park, with its land and facilities, is a valuable community resource, and working together we can make it even better.

Current members of MPAC (Margate Park Advisory Council) are celebrating the completion of the new play lot near the field house. The site is an imaginative, well-planned space for young children to play. It came into being through a multi-year effort involving the Park District, the 48th Ward Alderman and staff, MPAC and dedicated members of the community.

MPAC is now working toward the installation of a native plants perennial garden in the spot where the old play lot used to be. This site will be a quiet gathering place, likely to appeal to an older group, especially when enhanced with benches and educational material describing the plants. The same broad-based community effort will be required for its success.

Perhaps you have views about possible improvements to park services or land, or you have concerns about public safety issues. Perhaps you would just like to contribute with others who appreciate the positive influence of Margate Park and its dedicated staff.

Good things happen when people work together. Simply come to a meeting to find out what we are about. We meet regularly for an hour, 6:30 - 7:30, on the fourth Tuesday of every month (exception: the December meeting is often cancelled due to the holidays) in the Margate Park Field House. There is a membership fee of $12, payable at the January meeting or pro-rated. Join us with your ideas and concerns!
